Steel Manufacturing
80,000+
Operating at the intersection of heavy industry and digital transformation in India, this global steel enterprise had accumulated an ecosystem of over 250 applications across HR, operations, safety, procurement, and sales — each functional, but none connected. Employees navigating this fragmented digital landscape spent significant portions of their working day searching for tools, reconciling disconnected information, and switching contexts between systems never designed to coexist. Worxwide was engaged to unify this sprawling ecosystem into a single, intelligent, persona-driven digital workplace.
As Tata Steel’s digital application portfolio grew to over 250 tools across its Indian operations, the employee experience deteriorated in inverse proportion to the technology investment being made. The digital workplace had become a source of friction rather than a force multiplier — reducing productivity, frustrating employees across all levels and functions, and preventing the organisation from realising the value of its substantial technology investments.
Worxwide conducted persona-based research across multiple employee roles and business functions to understand the diversity of digital workplace needs within the organisation. A new information architecture was designed to simplify access to high-frequency tools, with intelligent navigation, integrated tasks, meetings, and approvals unified into a single interface. Cohesive digital workplace experience was enabled with improved accessibility, smart alerts, and AI-powered application discovery — transforming the employee’s relationship with technology.
The unified digital workplace reduced the time employees spent searching for applications and information by 30%, recovering significant productive capacity across a workforce of tens of thousands and demonstrating measurable ROI on the design investment.
Higher adoption of the unified interface, driven by a genuinely intuitive experience, translated directly into improved employee productivity — as the digital workplace began to accelerate work rather than complicate it across India’s steel manufacturing operations.
Role-based personalisation ensured every employee encountered a digital workplace matching their specific context, reducing frustration and increasing the sense that the organisation’s digital infrastructure was designed with them, not just deployed at them.
